Gasification versus fast pyrolysis bio-oil production: A life cycle assessment
نویسندگان
چکیده
A life cycle assessment was performed to compare the sustainability of gasification and fast pyrolysis processes for producing bio-oil using agricultural wastes from biomass. The objective carry out environmental analysis associated with production 1 MJ different biomasses both thermochemical determine which process is more respectful environment. revealed that detrimental environment all under study. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions over a 100-year time horizon were calculated, thereby demonstrating CO2 yield higher than those CH4 N2O in processes. Furthermore, gain comprehensive overview, divided into equipment blocks evaluate their individual impacts. Almond shell, pistachio shell olive stone identified as minor amount feed needed produce bio-oil. This determined stage separation pyrolysis, main contributors mid-point impact categories. Finally, most environmentally friendly option

Pyrolysis of Seaweeds for Bio-oil and Bio-char Production
A pyrolysis study on a species of brown algae Saccharina japonica was carried out in a fixed-bed reactor. The yields of bio-oil and bio-char obtained at 450 C were 47 % and 33 %, respectively. The raw S, japonica, ethanol and acid pretreated samples and the resulting pyrolysis products were also characterized with respect to proximate and ultimate analysis, and higher heating value. The crude b...

The increase in the population of the planet and the rapid economic growth and, consequently, the high consumption of energy has created many environmental problems in the globe. Due to these reasons and the lack of renewability of these fossil fuels, there has been a steep trend towards the production of renewable fuels from natural sources, one of which is the production of energy from biomas...

متن کاملOptimization of Bark Fast Pyrolysis for the Production of Phenol-Rich Bio-oil
Bark is one of the most under-utilized types of lignocellulosic biomass in the forest industry. In this study, bark fast pyrolysis was optimized for phenols yield using response surface methodology (RSM), considering the pyrolysis temperature, gas flow rate, and biomass particle size. The bio-oil generated under optimal conditions was then characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (...
متن کاملEnergy-Efficient Routes for the Production of Gasoline from Biogas and Pyrolysis Oil—Process Design and Life-Cycle Assessment
Two novel routes for the production of gasoline from pyrolysis oil (from timber pine) and biogas (from ley grass) are simulated, followed by a cradle-to-gate life-cycle assessment of the two production routes. The main aim of this work is to conduct a holistic evaluation of the proposed routes and benchmark them against the conventional route of producing gasoline from natural gas. A previously...
